Sails Artist Statement

The series of Sails was created on the replica of the historic schooner, “America”, that won America’s Cup in 1851. I was fascinated by the power of the wind in the sails, providing enough energy to propel the 139 foot giant hull forward.  Sails are like harnessing life itself. They capture the wind to create your driving force, to captain your ship, adjusting the sails as the wind changes, keeping your focus clear and your end goal in sight. These images remind me that I am in control of my own destiny, adjusting to the daily challenges that change as rapidly as the wind can change direction.
